Rail Trail or Road Riding - June - September
Prince Edward Island Trail
Self-guided Tours
Prince Edward Island is the smallest province of Canada and one of its finest. You will discover small quant communities, artisan stores, historic buildings, abandoned rail stations, local cafes, and endless red-sandy beaches. Relax at quaint restaurants with world-renowned seafood and interact with islanders known for their warmth and hospitality. All tours ride through Cavendish where you can visit Lucy Maud Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables and the National Park. Prince Edward Island has become a cyclist’s dream destination.
Our self-guided bike tours allow you to pick which tour is best for you. The Tip to Tip 8-day, 7-night, 6 riding day tour spans the entire island riding mainly on quiet back roads near the northern coastline and some of the Confederation Trail. The Confederation Trail tour 8-day, 7-night, 6 riding tour stays on the interior gravel Rails-to-Trail path which has a few coastline visits and a ride to Cavendish and the National Park. If you would like to ride shorter distances, just send us an inquiry and we can build a tour for you.
Our tours provide Accommodations, Breakfast (on most days), Shuttle, Digital Mapping & Voice Navigation, Electronic Itinerary, Trail themed T-shirt and Patch. You can also add Luggage Shuttle, Bike Rentals and Extra Accommodations to your tour.
All bike tours are available June through September for individuals and large groups. If our listed dates don't meet your schedule, call our office at 314-656-6229 or send an inquiry, and we will build a bike tour for your specific dates.
If you want to speak to someone in French about this tour, please call in and ask to speak to Rhett, who is in our Canadian office.
We highly recommend booking protection or trip insurance for all tours.

FAQ's – PEI Tours
What if my desired tour start date or length is not listed?
Our start dates allow you to start your tours on a Sunday. If you want to start on a different day or if you want to ride a shorter number of days, then call our office 314-656-6229 or send an INQUIRY and we will build a tour for your specific requirements.
When should I purchase plane tickets?
Please wait 3 business days after purchasing your tour, before you purchase plane tickets. We need to ensure the hotels have space for you. We receive updates on their availability weekly but sometimes they sell out without our knowledge.
If the tour date is not available, we will try to find another date to your liking or refund your money.
What are the trail conditions?
Confederation trail is all crushed limestone and chat surface for a smooth ride. Built mainly on abandoned rail beds.
Tip to Tip tour utilizes 40% of the Confederation trail and 60% road riding on the shoulders of mainly quiet roads.
Where do I start my tour?
We start our tours in Charlottetown, PE. You will spend your first day traveling to Charlottetown and then spend the night in one of our great hotels. Then the next day you will be shuttled to the start of the tour by our shuttle provider. Enjoy your day in Charlottetown visiting this Province Capital and sampling their great food. We also end our tour in Charlottetown as well.
How do I get to Charlottetown and where to park?
Your first day of the tour is a travel day to Charlottetown, where you will spend your first night. There are three convenient ways to get to Prince Edward Island and Charlottetown where we begin our tours. You can drive across the Confederation Bridge from New Brunswick, take a ferry ride from Nova Scotia, or fly into the Charlottetown airport.
Parking for the tour is at the hotel the first night, then you will move to a parking garage where we provide you with the parking pass information for the rest of tour. Parking is approximately $10/day.
What is included in your self-guided tours?

You can also add luggage shuttle, bike rentals (hybrid and e-bike) and extra hotel nights before or after your tour.
Best time of year to tour?
The trails are open from June to September but we find the best time to ride is Mid-June to Mid-July and Mid-August through September. This timing will beat the crowds during the heat of the summer.

We highly recommend Booking Protection or Trip Insurance. We have seen many reasons for people need to cancel due to accident, illness, family members having illness, jury or military duty, fire and pregnancy. All of these are covered with our Booking Protection, which is available to most people to purchase at checkout, or you can purchase your own trip insurance or check your homeowners’ or credit card policy for coverage.
What is Booking Protection?
Crossroads Bike Tours has a Booking Protection Option available at the checkout of your tour from a third-party provider XCover. Our customers can gain access to comprehensive coverage for a fee that varies from 6 to 7% of their booking total. This will entitle you to a refund if you are unable to attend the experience due to any of the reasons covered. Listed below are some of the covered reasons:
* Transportation disruption
* Accident or illness of ticket holder or member of immediate family (not pre-existing conditions)
* Jury or military duty
* Personal emergency (e.g. burglary or fire)
* Pregnancy
* Extreme weather causing a delay in reaching the destination
Booking Protection is not Travel Insurance and does not provide health insurance when traveling.
Customers will have the option to add this at checkout. If a customer uses a payment plan the booking protection fee will be collected at the time of the first payment. All claims will be handled directly through our provider “Cover Genius” and not Crossroads Bike Tours. Please read the entire eligibility requirements at check out of your tour purchase for complete details.
Not every customer is eligible for this insurance due to State Regulations. If you do not receive Booking Protection at checkout, it cannot be added after purchase. Trip Insurance can be purchased on your own through several different companies after purchase such as Allianz. If you are eligible for this coverage, you will find it on our booking site after the “contact details” are provided and before payment
