Can I add a day to extend my tour?
Yes, absolutely. Many guests choose to add an extra night in Mont-Tremblant. It’s the perfect place to slow down and enjoy more of the area. Hike local trails, ride the gondola to the summit of Mont Tremblant, cycle along scenic lakes and rivers, rent a kayak, or relax on the beach. The village also offers plenty of great dining options.

The trails are open from June to September but we find the best time to ride is Mid-June to Mid-July and Mid-August through September. This timing will beat the crowds during the heat of the summer.

We highly recommend Booking Protection or Trip Insurance. We have seen many reasons for people need to cancel due to accident, illness, family members having illness, jury or military duty, fire and pregnancy. All of these are covered with our Booking Protection, which is available to most people to purchase at checkout, or you can purchase your own trip insurance or check your homeowners’ or credit card policy for coverage.
What is Booking Protection?
Crossroads Bike Tours has a Booking Protection Option available at the checkout of your tour from a third-party provider XCover. Our customers can gain access to comprehensive coverage for a fee that varies from 6 to 7% of their booking total. This will entitle you to a refund if you are unable to attend the experience due to any of the reasons covered. Listed below are some of the covered reasons:
* Transportation disruption
* Accident or illness of ticket holder or member of immediate family (not pre-existing conditions)
* Jury or military duty
* Personal emergency (e.g. burglary or fire)
* Pregnancy
* Extreme weather causing a delay in reaching the destination
Booking Protection is not Travel Insurance and does not provide health insurance when traveling.
Customers will have the option to add this at checkout. If a customer uses a payment plan the booking protection fee will be collected at the time of the first payment. All claims will be handled directly through our provider “Cover Genius” and not Crossroads Bike Tours. Please read the entire eligibility requirements at check out of your tour purchase for complete details.
Not every customer is eligible for this insurance due to State Regulations. If you do not receive Booking Protection at checkout, it cannot be added after purchase. Trip Insurance can be purchased on your own through several different companies after purchase such as Allianz. If you are eligible for this coverage, you will find it on our booking site after the “contact details” are provided and before payment
Can you hold a bike box or luggage while we ride?
Yes, we can often store a bike box and, depending on the size and quantity, additional luggage while you’re on tour. We’ve arranged this in the past for guests traveling from overseas who were continuing their trip after the ride.
While we can’t guarantee storage in every case, we’re happy to check availability with our shuttle partner and do our best to accommodate you.
Where does the P’tit Train du Nord start and end?
We begin and end our tours in Saint-Jérôme, about 20 minutes north of Montreal. You’ll arrive on Day 1 and stay overnight in one of our great hotels.
The following morning, our shuttle takes you to Mont-Laurier, where your ride begins as you cycle south back to Saint-Jérôme.
You can also choose to ride in reverse, but we recommend the north-to-south route for its gentle downhill grade and smoother logistics.
Trail conditions/is it difficult?
This trail is the longest linear park in Canada. The Petit Train du Nord trail is covered in asphalt in the northern section (70% and crushed stone in the southern section.
No, the trail is not considered difficult due to its gradual downhill overall when riding north to south, making it very approachable for most fitness levels.
Do we have to ride every day?
No, you can add an extra "rest" day. We recommend Mont Tremblant.
Should I rent a bike or bring my own?
Both are great options. Many guests prefer renting for convenience, especially when traveling. The bikes are well-maintained and comfortable to ride.
What should I bring with me each day?
Essentials like water, snacks, sunscreen, a phone, and a light layer. We’ll send you a full packing list.
What are the hotels like?
We use a mix of charming inns, boutique hotels, and comfortable accommodations in great locations.
Are meals included?
Breakfast is included most but not every day. Lunch and dinner are on your own, so you can explore local cafés and restaurants. We will have a daily itinerary for you with suggestions for lunch and dinner.
Can dietary restrictions be accommodated?
Yes, most restaurants along the route offer a variety of options.
What if something goes wrong during the ride?
We ask that you be able to change a flat and make minor adjustments to your bike. If there is a major mechanical failure, we can get you a ride out to the next town or bike shop. If renting, we can change it out for you. The same goes for any health issues. We will never leave you alone out on the trail. You will have our number and our shuttle partners should any issues come up.
