Overview

The Great Allegheny Passage and The Chesapeake & Ohio Towpath. Ride these with two great trails from Pittsburgh to Washington, DC for a memorable 335 mile experience through beauty and history. This 8-day tour starts in Pittsburgh on the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) for 150 miles on this crush gravel trail to Cumberland, MD. Then meet up with the Chesapeake & Ohio Tow Path (C&O) which leads you 180 miles on a packed dirt trail to Washington, DC. You will pass many tunnels, locks, and historic Civil War towns and battlefields while also crossing the Eastern Continental Divide. If you need a shuttle you can start in Cumberland with a shuttle to Pittsburgh, ride 8 days to Georgetown (D.C.) where you will be shuttled back to Cumberland in the evening of the last day. This allows you to have free parking for the entire tour in Cumberland. We can also shuttle you back to Pittsburgh if you want to park and start from there but you will need to spend the night in Georgetown on the last day of the tour and be shuttled back the following morning. All shuttles are extra to your tour. Our tours start on Saturday, but if you would like to start another day of the week, just send in an Inquiry and let us know the dates you would like to tour.
