Ride the beautiful Mickelson Trail from End to End in 4 days

Ride 4 days on this beautiful rail-to-trail in the Black Hills of South Dakota. This 109 mile trail is one of the nation’s most scenic, historic and memorable cycling adventures. the converted “Rail to Trail” once provided the booming “Wild West” mining community of Deadwood with a means to transport ore, supplies and people along its rugged path. As you cycle this well maintained, but challenging trail, you will discover unrivaled natural beauty, geologic wonders and an abundance of wildlife in combination with historic ghost towns, train trestles, bridges and tunnels, reminders of a bygone era. This is 4 day end to end tour on the Mickelson Trail and considered solidly intermediate due to long continuous grades and higher elevations. You will spend 3 nights on the trail in both historic hotels and other lodging right on the trail. All lodging is first class with beautiful views and breakfast available at some destinations. This tour adds a day to the 3 day tour but has the same distance on the trail by breaking up the first long day into two parts which have more downhill riding. You can also purchase a hotel in Deadwood the night before and/or after the ride as well in our "extra' section. Your tour starts in Deadwood, SD and includes 4 days of riding, 3 lodging nights, breakfast is included in some locations, shuttle from end of trail back to your car, tour map, Ride with GPS, luggage shuttle, luggage tags and Mickelson themed T-shirt. Your tour will end in Edgemont, SD where you will be shuttled back to Deadwood to pick up your car. If you have arrived by airplane then we will shuttle you to Rapid City for departure for additional cost. Day 1 get picked up in Deadwood for shuttle to Rochford where you will ride back to Deadwood - 28 miles, Day 2 get picked up in Deadwood for shuttle back to Rochford where you will ride the other direction to Hill City - 20 miles, Day3 you are on the trail and ride Hill City. Day 4 ride to Edgemont - 44 miles with a shuttle back to your car in Deadwood. If you want to spend the last night in Deadwood you will need to purchase the "Extra" Hotel after your tour.

DAY 1
We will pick you up at 10am and drive you to Rochford where you will ride 28 miles back to Deadwood for your first night on the trail. You will see many tunnels on this portion of the trail. This part of the ride is most scenic and has some uphill grade for part of your day.
If you need a night in Deadwood the day before your tour, please purchase the “extra” hotel night before the tour or call/email our office 314-656-6229 to set up this hotel night.
DAY 2
We will pick you up again and drive you to Rochford where you will ride the other direction to Hill City for 20 miles. Today also has some hills and many bridges. This is another very scenic section of the trial.
DAY 3
Monument day - Ride 18 miles to see Crazy Horse Monument (can add Mt. Rushmore 20 miles) and end in Custer. Your entrance fees to these monuments are not included in the tour.
DAY 4
Day 4 - Custer to Edgemont - 44 miles then shuttle back to Hill City - today’s route through descends peacefully through the forests and meadows. You will then meet the shuttle at 3pm in Edgemont and ride 2 hours back to Deadwood to your car. If you want to spend the night in Deadwood, please add "hotel after the tour" in your "extra" section.
